This exclusive “Gold Star” vinyl edition of Mavis Staples' self-titled debut solo album is released to celebrate the 55th anniversary of its original released in 1969. Part of the legendary Staple Singers, along with her father Roebuck “Pops” Staples and her siblings Cleotha, Pervis and Yvonne, this first solo outing was released on Stax Records subsidiary Volt and produced by Stax’s Al Bell and Steve Cropper. Included are the single "You're Driving Me (To the Arms of a Stranger)" along with powerful versions of “Son of A Preacher Man” and “A House Is Not A Home”. The musicians who play on the album is a who’s who of soul including, Isaac Hayes (organ), Steve Cropper (guitar), Donald “Duck” Dunn (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums)
