Released in July 1992, The Criminal Under My Own Hat stands as one of T Bone Burnett's more ambitious solo efforts. Produced by Burnett himself alongside Bob Neuwirth, the album is often regarded by critics as a return to his songwriting roots, melding stark acoustic moments with more daring, off‑kilter rock textures. The album earned industry recognition as it was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Contemporary Folk Album. Some of the highlights on this album are the tracks "Over You", "Tear This Building Down" and "It's Not Too Late".
