John Coltrane - Coltrane Plays The Blues LP
NEW. SEALED.
Rhino Records
John Coltrane Coltrane Plays the Blues (Rhino High Fidelity) (Start Your Ear Off Right 2026) Indie Exclusive 180g LP John Coltrane - Coltrane Plays the Blues (1962) is a concept album released by Atlantic Records and cobbled together from unreleased compositions captured during John Coltrane's My Favorite Things recording sessions. The album turns the blues form into a framework for harmonic invention and rhythmic interplay. Each track reveals a different facet of his sound, from the open dialogue of "Blues to Elvin" to the assertive drive of "Mr. Day." Beneath it's stripped-down surface lies some of Coltrane's most direct and vital playing of the Atlantic years. Featuring his signature soprano sax and delving deeply into his blues sensibilities, this new mono version breakout LP will follow the Rhino High-Fidelity box set entitled John Coltrane: 1960-1964 where all lacquers are AAA cut directly from the mono tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed on 180-gram vinyl by Optimal, with meticulous detailing on the album packaging that includes glossy covers and "tip-on" jackets.
