Luc Ferrari - Ferrari: Presque Rien NR. 1 Societe II
NEW. SEALED.
Album #1 of the brand new vinyl series featuring groundbreaking recordings from the musical avant-garde.
Luc Ferrari's Presque Rien No. 1 and Société II are among the most radical works of the 20th-century avant-garde. With Presque Rien No. 1, Ferrari pioneered the use of ambient recordings as complete musical material—he recorded the sounds of a Croatian fishing village at dawn. Without manipulation, this marked a decisive shift toward sonic minimalism and influenced generations of experimental artists.
In contrast, Société II, composed for piano, percussion, and ensemble, embodies Ferrari's politically charged, theatrical side. Created amidst the social upheavals of the late 1960s, it stages a feminist allegory in which the performers vie for dominance, blending structure, improvisation, and satire.
Mastered and cut from the original analog ¼-inch 2-track master tapes by Rainer Maillard and Sidney Claire Meyer at the Emil Berliner Studios.
Limited and numbered edition with original artwork and a newly designed, beautifully crafted collector's cover with new liner notes by Bradford Bailey, pressed on 180g vinyl.
