Ronnie Hudson - Westcoastin'

NEW. SEALED.

Thump Records

Ronnie Hudson is a Washington, D.C.-born bassist/vocalist and producer whose signature 1982 funk single "West Coast Poplock" became a long-lived west coast cultural marker partly because it's chorus fed directly into future generations of rap culture via high-profile sampling, most famously the 1995 hit "California Love".

His latest release entitled "Westcoastin'" appears as a 2026 LP compilation credited to Thump Records, which repackages a feature-heavy, funk-rap/west coast update of the "Poplock" legacy for new audiences worldwide. This compilation is now being released as a limited-edition vinyl release. "Westcoastin'" will extend this legacy through modern west coast guest features, most notably Snoop Dogg, Too Short, and E-40, and through the interpolation of the catalogue's best-known melodic/lyrical assets.
