Ryan Adams - Cold Roses LP

NEW. SEALED.

Lost Highway Records

Cold Roses is the sixth studio album by American alt-country singer-songwriter Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, released in May 2005 via Lost Highway.

Best known for his prolific solo career, Ryan Adams has released fifteen albums, continuing on after moderate success as a former member of alternative country band Whiskeytown. The group disbanded in 2000, as their label Outpost Records closed during a merger leaving the third album Pneumonia in limbo for a year. After Lost Highway signed on Adams (based off highly acclaimed debut solo album Heartbreaker) they also released the material for Pneumonia in May 2001. After Heartbreaker came Gold, another successful album and Demolition soon after. After negotiations with his label, the already written Rock N Roll (2003) was released, doing better in Germany and Ireland than his previous album.  Love Is Hell was a turning point, initially released as two EPs and leading to a tour.  It also included a cover of OasisWonderwall which would earn him a Grammy nomination for "Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance".

This album is his first with backing band The Cardinals, and the first in a streak of three albums released in 2005.  Another with The Cardinals called Jacksonville City Nights and the solo album 29.  That tour of the previous album led to the writing on these three albums, as Adams broke his wrist in Liverpool and had a slow recovery in his hometown of Jacksonville.  During this difficult time, Adams was inspired by Jerry Garcia's playing in The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan. These pointed Adams in a new musical direction, and his next band - christened The Cardinals - was conceived as a loose musical collective.
