Full Time Sales Associate

This is an active, hands-on retail job. You’ll help customers and ring sales, but you’ll also receive shipments, pack orders, stock records. Parts of the role are physically demanding and repetitive. We’re looking for someone who knows and cares about music, and is just as ready to roll up their sleeves and do the work.


What the Job Looks Like

  • Greet customers, answer questions, and make recommendations
  • Work the register accurately and efficiently
  • Receive incoming inventory and pack outgoing orders
  • Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing
  • Retrieve and upstock records throughout the day, including bending, crouching, or kneeling to find and restock items on low shelves.
  • Jump in and help elsewhere in the store when something needs to be done

What We're Looking for in You

  • Speedy, accurate, and productive -  you don't need to be told to stay busy
  • A thinker and a self-starter: you notice what needs attention and take initiative
  • Quick to learn and good at retaining what you've been shown
  • Comfortable juggling priorities and moving between tasks in a busy store
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Comfortable with people: friendly with customers, and willing to ask coworkers for help and offer it when someone else needs it
  • Comfortable being yourself -  you don't need to be the loudest person in the room
  • Good with computers and comfortable learning unfamiliar systems
  • Knowledge of and passion for recorded music
  • Dependable, adaptable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work

Bonus points

  • Previous retail or record store experience
  • Experience with Shopify or other POS/ecommerce systems
  • Familiarity with grading and pricing used vinyl
  • Any other background in the music industry
  • Enjoy reading

Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Full-time, year-round, approximately 40 hours per week. Weekend availability is required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Retail is especially busy during the holiday season, so availability throughout November and December, including weekends and many holidays, is expected. Time-off availability may be limited during our busiest weeks of the year.
  • Dependable, consistent availability is especially important on a small staff.
  • You must be comfortable regularly lifting and moving boxes - records are heavy.
